Dog Obedience and Behavior Training
Obedience commands are not just some tricks done at the end of the leash. There is a purpose to obedience training. Jills obedience classes are not only obedience but also behavior training as well. These classes designed to educate both dog and owner so as to create a more loving, trustful and respectful bond. You will learn all about dogs first language, body language and energy. This class will foster the leader in you so that you show up as the leader your dog needs. See below for registration requirements.
Obedience training your dog teaches your dog to have good manners. Ever notice how you love going to a friends home when their dog is well mannered and you avoid going to a friends home because their dog jumps on you and your friends are constantly trying to keep their dog from bothering you, that they can barely stay in a conversation with you? It’s so much more pleasant to be around a well-behaved dog than an overactive, assertive and obnoxious one. You can have the dog everyone loves being around.
In fact, obedience training is critical in nurturing and fostering the most positive aspects of the human-dog bond. Teaching the basic commands SIT, STAY, DOWN, COME and walking on a tension free leash fosters a respectful dog while putting you in the leadership role. Being the leader helps to shape the dog to become the good canine citizen you wanted in the first place.
If you stop and think how much time you spend trying to stop your dog from jumping on guests, walk nicely on a leash or to be calm in your home you’ll realize that spending a few minutes a day in obedience training will eliminate your frustration with your dog and turn that love/hate relationship into a love/love relationship. Well-mannered dogs have a much more enjoyable life because they can spend more time with their owners going to the beach, the park, to your friends homes and be quiet and comfortable riding in the car. Spending those 30 minutes a day having fun teaching your dog obedience commands not only makes everyone’s life better, it helps your dog feel safe and comfortable in their world.
