How Dogs Tell Us They’re in Pain

Dogs present pain in their entire body. Some are easier to read than others. Their behavior is also very telling if you know what to look for.

Body Languages:

  • Rounded body posture
  • Tucked Tail
  • Ears sideways or back and down
  • Eyes squinting
  • Whale eye
  • Shaking/trembling
  • Whining
  • Hiding
  • Paw Lift
  • Lethargy
  • Panting
  • Facial tension
  • Neediness

One must look at the whole dog and the context in which the dog is presenting. If any of these signs persist and you haven’t figured out a cause it would be a good time to bring your pup in to a veterinarian.
